Stories From Workcamp, as told by youth leader, Paula D.:
![]() I was on crew #54 at the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Reach Workcamp. Our Neighbor's name is Nereida Simon-Ramirez and she lives in Gettysburg. Toward the end of the week, Nereida said that she wanted to share her story with us, so at lunch that day she brought a journal with her and shared this story: She told us that she was from Mexico and that her parents moved to the United States in the 60's, but they did not bring Nereida with them when they moved. She stayed and lived with her grandparents from the age of 4 to 15, then her parents brought her to the US. She said that it was hard adjusting to living with her parents because they were like strangers to her. She also struggled because she did not know English. She married her husband before she came to know Christ, and it was a hard life trying to make ends meet. Once she accepted Christ, she realized that God speaks to her through her dreams. In 2006 she started to journal her dreams. That year one of her dreams was that God had restored her house. She had this dream repeatedly over the years, and this year she realized the fulfillment of God's promise when we came to repair her house. She was an amazing testament to God's fulfillment of promises and I am still in contact with her and hope to be as the years go on.While we were there the local paper was also there doing a story on Nereida.
