On March 30, 2008, Paul Moyer, a valuable board member and a long time friend of Reach Workcamps, went home to be with the Lord. Paul fought a long and courageous battle with diabetes. He embodied the Good Samaritan parable. Whenever Paul saw a need, he would stop and invested his resources and his time to help. One of the stops Paul made in his busy life as a pastor happened in the fall of 1991, when he sent Mike Jones, co-founder of Reach Workcamps, a $10,000 check with no strings attached in order to help start Reach. We were a handful of naïve, wounded people sitting around a dining room table figuring out the next step. Since then, Reach has had almost 30,000 campers, we have worked on over 4,000 homes, and the Lord only knows how many volunteers have participated in camps. Over the past 17 years, many people have benefited from the generosity and character of Paul Moyer. Paul will be greatly missed.
